From our five estates and eight factories, GuySuCo grows, mills and bags our genuine golden brown Demerara sugar. We are currently in the process of establishing a new refinery to produce white sugar, which should be operational in 2008. We distribute our sugar and its by-product molasses to a wide range of export customers, local retailers, manufacturers and food services. Our products include:

Genuine Demerara sugar in bulk form

The majority of our sugar is exported to the European Union under quotas specified by the ACP/EU Sugar Protocol, the Special Preferential Sugar Agreement and the US Quota. We also ship bulk sugars to Trinidad under the Common External Tariff Agreement. All sugars exported to the European Community and Trinidad are in bulk form and shipped CIF. Sales to the United States are on a FOB basis.

Genuine Demerara sugar in 50kg bags

Our sugar also comes in the form of 50kg bags for easy handling. Our bagged sugars are shipped to our neighbouring Caricom countries: Suriname, St. Lucia, Grenada, Antigua, Dominica, Barbados, St. Vincent and Jamaica under the Common External Tariff Agreement and is also distributed within our domestic markets. Bagged sugar is shipped in break bulk and/or in containers CIF or FOB within the Caricom market and is distributed directly at wholesale prices from our factories within the local market.

Molasses

Most of our molasses is sold to local rum distilleries and the remainder is distributed among the islands of Barbados, Antigua, St Lucia and St. Vincent. Our molasses is sold in bulk form CIF to our customers.

Future product line expansion

For the past 25 years, our corporation has mainly focused on the production of raw sugar for export in bulk or 50kg bags. Through two years of research and development, we have vastly improved the quality of our genuine golden brown Demerara sugar for direct consumption and plan to sell our pre-packaged sugar in the form of sachets, 500g, 1kg, 2kg, 5kg and 10kg packages to end consumers, retailers and food services/tourism industries both within our domestic market and the Caricom market. Our launch date for these packaged sugars in the local market will be in the second half of 2001.

GuySuCo is also investing capital in the research and development of special sugars, which include organic, plantation white, muscovado and yellow crystal and will continuously update interested buyers on our development and launch dates for these special sugar products.
